Why So Sirius? The Next Generation of Decentralisation

BTC Wires: For all those who thought that Satoshi Nakamoto was just a speculative person who did not or does not exist, there is a new twist in the story. As it turns out, there was another accomplice who played a crucial role in the development of the coin in shining armour(Bitcoin). While the unseen and unknown personality of Satoshi Nakamoto grabbed the attention of masses, there was one man whose name went unnoticed for most times. That name is Martti Malmi a.k.a. ‘Sirius’. After a period of low-key, Malmi is back with now to launch a cryptocurrency called AXE, under the newfound company- ERA.

Malmi started out as an amateur college-level developer almost ten years ago, way back in 2009. The important thing about him is that he was the only developer besides Nakamoto at the time when Bitcoin was still growing. Apart from the camaraderie that the two men shared at work, they were also good friends. This gave rise to a trust that amounted to Malmi being attributed for a major share of changes in the second code release of bitcoin. Malmi also had admin access to bitcoin.org as well. However, after a point Martti decided to move on to other things and bid farewell to Bitcoin.

In an interview with a popular crypto news platform, Malmi had this to say:

”I felt like bitcoin had already gone from zero to one, so to say. It was already up and running with a growing community and had lots of great developers working on it.”

In 2014, he began Identifi, an online reputation system. Malmi decided to collaborate his brainchild with GUN, a decentralised database system to achieve his long term goal of Web decentralisation. On striving further ahead Martti decided to kick thing up a notch by aiming for diminishing the control that companies like Facebook and Google exercise on cloud space. With that target set in his mind, he collaborated with GUN to deliver an incentivised coin. A new company called ERA has been formed to validate the collaboration and launch the AXE coin. About the need for a decentralised in digital identity, Malmi had this to say:

“I believe that decentralization of digital identity and other basic infrastructure of our society are the some of the most meaningful things a developer can work on these days.”
