Even as Bitcoin continues to disappoint, there are some staunch supporters of the crypto coin who are just not ready to give up. Turns out that Jack Dorsey, who is the CEO of Twitter, is one of them. In a recent podcast, he opined that Bitcoin is likely to become the “native currency” of the internet.
Jack Dorsey, who is the CEO is Square Inc. as well, made these comments while on a podcast called “The Joe Rogan Experience”, helmed by Joe Rogan, a former MMA fighter. Clearly, Dorsey’s comments will give a new lease of life to Bitcoin proponents who have had little reason to celebrate of late.

During the podcast, Joe Rogan asked Dorsey about the payment option on the Cash All, a decentralized payment offering from the house of Square Inc. Recently, the mobile application included Bitcoin as one of the payment options and Rogan based his question on that and asked if the firm had plans to add other crypto coins as payment options on the app.
In response, Dorsey said that they were not planning on such addition at the moment. Instead, he focused on the potential of Bitcoin to become the native currency for the netizens of today. To quote him:
“Not right now. I believe the internet will have a native currency and I don’t know if it will be Bitcoin but, I think it will be Bitcoin.”
He went on to justify his views by noting that Bitcoin had achieved an enduring popularity on the internet and had proved its worth to the netizens in the ten years of its existence.
He highlighted that it was incredibly important to have a currency that operated worldwide and was largely decentralized. Bitcoin, in his view, fits the bill and brings convenience to users by working a lot faster than traditional finance does.
In speaking about the pioneering crypto coin of the market, Dorsey also told Rogan about what Cash App was doing in order to spread greater awareness about Bitcoin. Even after it has been around for a little over ten years, Bitcoin is not something that the masses of the world really know about. Therefore, educating people about the currency and its uses seems to be of paramount importance.
Dorsey told the host that he was a part of a children’s book release project, about Bitcoin’s history. He also mentioned how governments are worried about Bitcoin because it challenges central authority.
